Well, there’s no other way to put this, reader: our season 3 finale gets off to what I, a fan of puns, am legally required to describe as an … explosive start. Victoria Mars gets a package at the office, and is seconds away from opening it when Detective Mustache runs in and yells at her to put it back down on the desk. VERY slowly. Why? Because there’s a bomb in there, and he knows that because he ALSO got a very special delivery at his office this morning. And so did Moses! Thankfully, none of the bombs were actually set up to explode, but still: yikes! The three of them roll up to Scotland Yard (leaving their respective explosives at home, naturally) at Victoria Mars’ insistence.

This week on All Creatures Great And Small, we follow Mrs. Hall on her attempt to reconcile with her son Edward. Fans may recall that she was expecting Edward to write or visit her in the previous Christmas specials, but he never showed up. Along the way, we find out more details about why they became estranged. This episode is an emotional rollercoaster, so let’s strap in and discuss!

Hey, remember how Duke Silver made our collective son Baby Detective take up boxing in the hope that he’d be better equipped to fight his own battles, and maybe make some friends along the way? It seems to be working, if Baby Detective’s presence in the cop bar with Hardscrabble and some of the other guys at the start of this episode is any indication. Hardscrabble’s regaling everyone with what I have to imagine is a well-worn tale about an elderly nude suspect, and Baby Detective is attempting to calculate the probability of different scenarios in the game they’re playing so… everyone’s really playing to type.

This week’s All Creatures Great And Small has a very provocative title but it has a more family-friendly meaning in context. James is working hard on TB testing, but he’s making numerous errors on the paperwork completed after testing. Just as he promises to fix these problems, another one develops.
