FRONTLINE’s American Insurrection, COVID’s Hidden Toll and Waste Land; NOVA’s Human Nature; and WORLD CHANNEL’s Meltdown in Dixie were among 30 finalists recognized for public service reporting.

  • BOSTON – (July 29, 2021) Boston public media producer GBH has been honored with 24 nominations for the 42nd Annual Emmy® Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). FRONTLINE, GBH’s investigative journalism series, earned 19 News and Documentary nominations for films that examine critical domestic and international issues — from investigating COVID-19’s devastation, to Amazon’s rise and reign, to the growing threats of conspiracy theories in American politics and the Taliban’s power abroad. NOVA, the most-watched primetime science series on American television, earned four News and Documentary nominations for Nature’s Fear Factor, which spotlights the role of predators in wildlife recovery and Human Nature, which explores the ethics of gene editing technology. In addition, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW received its 19th Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Structured Reality Program.
  • Boston, MA – As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, a new PBS series explores the accelerated pace of change in the workplace and the potential for long-term impact on workers, employers, educators and communities across our country. Prior to the start of the pandemic, a team of award-winning filmmakers at public media powerhouse GBH had begun exploring the experiences of American workers across industries, generations, geographies and pay levels. The resulting multi-platform series, Future of Work, makes its debut this summer on streaming and broadcast platforms.
  • BOSTON (July 14, 2021) - GBH Kids, the premiere home in public media for children, today announced a new development deal with New York Times bestselling author and Newbery Medalist Kwame Alexander to create and produce a multiplatform project, including a television series based on his first children’s book Acoustic Rooster and his Barnyard Band. Alexander will serve as one of the executive producers of the show along with Executive Producer Marcy Gunther. This stellar team also includes Kay Donmyer, writer for the Emmy Award-winning children’s show CURIOUS GEORGE, who will also serve as the series’ co-creator and head writer; executive producer Angel Tyree and musical consultant Randy Preston, both from Alexander’s Big Sea Entertainment.

  • BOSTON (June 18, 2021) - PBS Kids and Boston public media producer GBH today announced the season 3 premiere of PBS KIDS’ PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC. This season will feature 10 brand new half-hour episodes on PBS KIDS. The first three episodes of the new season will debut on June 18 from 7:00-8:30 PM/6:00-7:30 PM CT as part of PBS KIDS Family Night on the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and streaming on PBS KIDS digital platforms .
