The free testing program begins July 10 and will run through the middle of August.

Gov. Charlie Baker, Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito and members of the cabinet unveiled plans Thursday to transition into the next stage of reopening after the holiday weekend.

“We need to ensure all families and all households have access to housing,” Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito said.

The governor is also pushing for the legislature to pass legislation that would lower the threshold for cities and towns to make zoning changes.

The governor spoke alongside U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar Friday morning.

The program is intended to fund infrastructure to combat food insecurity, particularly in low-income and minority communities

“This is still very much a legitimate and dangerous and contagious virus,” the governor said.

This phase will increase the number and type of businesses that are allowed to reopen under new, stricter guidelines.
