On this week's Open Studio With Jared Bowen, we head to The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to examine a multi-gallery, multi-discipline exhibition of Chinese artist Shen Wei. Wei’s artistic practice draws upon both Chinese and western culture, encompassing not only dance—for which he became world famous after choreographing the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics—but also painting, drawing, and filmmaking. Known for his interconnected artistic approach, Wei blends various disciplines to explore aspects of spirituality, perception, and movement, while defying traditional boundaries between disciplines, geographies, and cultures. "Painting in Motion" is on view through June 20th.

Also included is an interview with Steven Koppel, founder of the EDI Institute, about technology and using art to express feelings beyond words. The EDI Institute is a non-profit organization committed to the innovation, implementation, and research of Expressive Digital Imagery® (EDI) technologies and practices. Through their team of nationally renowned industry leaders and top-tier partners, EDI has developed a new solution for integrating non-verbal self-expression into proven therapies and programs.
