Family First
Ren is competing in the Lil Miss Westie Pageant as the first transgender contestant, and her older brother Luca is coaching her on posing, make-up and talent. He knows his stuff because he competed six years ago when he was living as a girl. The dynamic between the two siblings as they get ready for the competition confronts gender norms in a wonderfully entertaining way. Home Safe Home
Just a few years ago, Subhi Nahas, Cheyenne Adriano, Mari N’Timansieme and Junior Mayema were the victims of death threats, harassment and discrimination because of who they are. Today, they are among the many LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers from Africa and the Middle East who flee their countries for better lives in the US. As politicians in America continue to demonize immigrants and restrict the flow of refugees into the US, this award-winning film humanizes this group of people who are desperately trying to find a safe place to call home.
Doc World: Unsettled—Seeking Refuge in America

A Courageous Journey
When filmmaker Joe Wilson announces that he is to be wed to another man, a firestorm of controversy ignites his small Pennsylvania hometown. Drawn back by a plea for help from the mother of a gay teen being tormented at school, Wilson’s journey dramatically illustrates the universal challenges of being an outsider in a conservative environment and the transformation that is possible when those who have long been constrained by a traditional code of silence summon the courage to break it.
