Meet Ananda Lowe, a doula who has practiced in the Boston area for more than 20 years. As a doula, she approaches pregnancy and childbirth from a wellness model and supports mothers and families, before the birth, during the childbirth process, and in the postpartum period.
WGBH sat down with Lowe to learn about her vocation and why she enjoys watching Call The Midwife. “When I watch the show, it’s a reminder to me that birth is an equalizer. It is the same biological process for all of us, regardless our background or class or time of history that we’re living in. It’s a rite of passage and also a sense of feeling very powerful in one’s body."
Call The Midwife begins on March 31.
