Morning Edition host
Mark Herz the local host of GBH's Morning Edition.
He is a Connecticut native who started his romance with journalism in his last year at Yale, where he majored in linguistics. He went on to earn a masters degree in journalism from Columbia.
Mark reported from ground zero on Sept. 11, and from Connecticut in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook shooting.
He has reported extensively on public health issues, with a particular focus on disparities. In 2011, he won a National Edward R. Murrow Award for his series "Policing the Mentally Ill.” Mark was a class of 2023 fellow in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation's Health Coverage Fellowship.
