Mark Clague is professor of musicology and American culture at the University of Michigan, associate dean at the School of Music, Theatre & Dance, and co-director of the American Music Institute. His recent book, Oh Say Can You Hear: A Cultural History of the Star-Spangled Banner, was a New York Times Editor’s Choice. He lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
