Daniel Clowes

Daniel Clowes was born and grew up in Chicago before attending the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. His career as an underground comic began to take of when his first Lloyd Llewellyn story was published in 1985. He soon began the periodic comic collection *Eightball*, which spawned several full-length graphic novels, including *Ghost World* and *Art School Confidential*. Both of these novels he adapted into screenplays, and for his adaptation of *Ghost World* he was nominated for an Academy Award in 2001. He is currently an illustrator for *The New Yorker* and lives in Oakland, CA.
