Dan Kennedy

A former panelist on WGBH-TV’s “Beat the Press,” Dan Kennedy writes the blog Media Nation and is the author of “The Return of the Moguls: How Jeff Bezos and John Henry Are Reinventing Newspapers for the Twenty-First Century” (ForeEdge, 2018). His weekly media commentary is on pause — at least for a while — as he devotes his energies to a book he is writing.

In addition to media and political commentary, Kennedy writes the New England Muzzle Awards , an annual feature in which he turns a spotlight on those who diminish free speech. He and civil-liberties lawyer Harvey Silverglate launched the Muzzles for the late, lamented Boston Phoenix in 1998. Since 2013 the Muzzles have been hosted by GBH News.

Kennedy is a professor of journalism at Northeastern University.
