With so much focus and handwringing over the closure of the Longfellow Bridge , a main connector between Boston and Cambridge, another bridge may be in even worse condition.
According to Travel and Leisure Magazine , the Storrow Drive overpass at Clarendon Street is the most dangerous bridge in the country because of its structural deficiencies and high daily use. While most drivers think of the overpass as a tunnel, it's classified as a bridge by the Federal Highway Administration because its roof bears the weight of overhead traffic.
Former Massachusetts Transportation Secretary James Aloisi and Boston Society of Civil Engineers member David Westerling joined Greater Boston to talk about bridge safety, the under-funding of the state's transportation system, and the lack of a tunnel inspection program.
