Longtime Republican Liz Cheney will campaign today with Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president. The two will appear together in Ripon, Wisconsin, the birthplace of the Republican party.

In an interview with GBH News last week, Cheney called Harris “the only responsible adult running for president.” She took aim at former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party that she claims he corrupted.

Cheney also called the overturning of Roe v. Wade “devastating” and shared her post-election plans, including the possibility of developing a “new” Republican Party.

“It’s really important for our country ... that we have a party that is going to be out there making a case for strong national defense, for American leadership in the world, for limited government, low taxes — the things Republicans used to stand for,” she said.
