The migrant crisis in Massachusetts is playing out on two different levels. It's an intensely local problem for policymakers seeking to provide suitable shelter to, and care for, thousands of new arrivals. But the decisions made here are also being subjected to intense national scrutiny — and given Massachusetts' reputation as a progressive bastion, the right tends to react with particular relish when things go wrong.
