After keeping a relatively low profile locally during his time as President Biden’s labor secretary, former Mayor Marty Walsh has been raising his profile in Boston over the past few months with a series of notable public appearances. What’s more, he’s dipping his toes back into the turbulent waters of city politics by endorsing a former staffer, John FitzGerald, who’s seeking an open seat on the Boston City Council. It’s Walsh’s first formal endorsement since exiting City Hall.

Is there a deeper meaning to Walsh’s renewed local activity? And is there a political job out there that could convince the former mayor to leave his current gig as head of the NHL players’ union? Adam Reilly discusses with Boston magazine’s David Bernstein and the Dorchester Reporter’s Gin Dumcius.
