Boston voters will cut a crowded field of City Council candidates down to size in the Sept. 12 preliminary election. A series of controversies and conflicts within the council have complicated several of the races — including for incumbents Kendra Lara, Ricardo Arroyo and Tania Fernandes Anderson, who are all facing multiple challengers.

With the political makeup of the council hanging in the balance, Yawu Miller, former senior editor at The Bay State Banner, and the Dorchester Reporter’s Managing Editor Gintautas Dumcius weigh in on the states of the races, and which councilors are most likely to be unseated.
