After the Mass. GOP reached a political low point last fall, the party replaced former chair Jim Lyons with Amy Carnevale, who promised to bridge the gap between die-hard supporters of former President Donald Trump and fans of the more moderate approach espoused by Gov. Charlie Baker. And her past support for both men suggested she might be the right woman for the job.

Now though, Trump’s indictment is stoking renewed fervor for the former president in Massachusetts and elsewhere. Will that derail Carnevale’s plans to end the Trump-Baker schism and restore the party’s relevance? She joins Adam Reilly to discuss the party’s short and long-term future, her assessment of Democratic Governor Maura Healey, and the type of candidates she’d like the GOP to field in the future (spoiler: she’s bullish on former Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito).
