After House Republicans ousted Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership role over her condemnation of Trump’s election lie and inciting the January 6 insurrection — some in the party are asking: What is the future of the Republican party — and American democracy itself?
In for Jim Braude, Adam Reilly was joined by former Republican and author of "Our Own Worst Enemy," Tom Nichols, and Lisa Kashinsky of Politico’s Massachusetts Playbook, who weighed in on Gov. Baker's response to the party turmoil.
"This has been an inevitable collision between Liz Cheney and a few other handful of Republicans," Nichols said. "The party as an institution just doesn't want to keep being reminded of the terrible things that have happened over the past four years. But they also have to keep swearing their loyalty to Donald Trump."
