Congress is facing another showdown over the debt ceiling this week, with House Democrats passing a bill to raise the borrowing limit while Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell has vowed not to take up the idea. “I’m cautiously optimistic because I think that this is a survival issue for the Democrats and the Democratic majority," O'Brien said about reaching a deal.

"History will tell you that the party in presidential power loses seats in off election year," she added. "I do think you’ll see many democrats falling in line behind Nancy Pelosi — she is a master negotiator.”
