Speculation is still brewing around whether Gov. Charlie Baker will seek a third term as Massachusetts' governor. But some are reading the tea leaves — or rather, listening to the governor's press conferences — and see indications that he's building up support and, on some issues, moving to the right.
Boston Globe Columnist Joan Vennochi and former Democratic congressional candidate Jesse Mermell joined Jim Braude on Greater Boston Monday to discuss.
Geoff Diehl declared his candidacy for governor in July, and the Trump-aligned Republican is so far the only potential challenger that Baker would face in 2022.
“I actually think that some of his recent positions — or lack thereof — concerning COVID is him looking to the right and not wanting to be the person that mandates masks in schools or calls for public employees to be getting vaccinated,” Vennochi said.
