Top House Republican Kevin McCarthy said Wednesday he opposed a commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol by Trump supporters and a mix of right-wing extremist groups. Later Wednesday, the House voted to support a plan to create the commission, with 35 Republicans joining Democrats.
Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern, who has sharply criticized McCarthy and the Republican party over both the attack and its aftermath, joined Jim Braude to discuss. “We have bigots and racists who are in Congress,” he said. “They don’t want to face the truth.”
