On Boston Public Radio Thursday, Andrea Cabral scorned Rudy Giuliani’s Tuesday appearance in a Pennsylvania federal courthouse, calling the former New York City mayor’s effort to halt the state’s certification of election results “a disgrace.”
Giuliani, acting as President Trump’s personal lawyer, is continuing to push forward with long-shot legal attempts to thwart the outcome of the 2020 presidential race, despite no evidence to support Trump’s claims of widespread voter fraud.
“They’re not going in with the expectation that they will win,” the former Suffolk County sheriff said of the dozens of lawsuits filed in states that voted for Joe Biden. "They’re trying to build a case, somehow, to persuade enough Republicans and Republican-controlled legislatures … to throw out the election results and appoint their own electors for Donald Trump.”
Cabral called the effort “Rube Goldberg nonsense,” but added that it's also “incredibly dangerous."
“It can’t be stated strongly enough,” she warned. "This is catastrophic for the system that they’re continuing to do this, and that Donald Trump won’t concede the election.”
Andrea Cabral is the former Suffolk County sheriff and secretary of public safety. She’s currently the CEO of Ascend.
