Raymond Buckley, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, joined Boston Public Radio on Sunday in Manchester, N.H. He addressed criticism that New Hampshire commonly receives for not being diverse enough of a state to hold the first primary election in the nation.

"The reality is, it's four early states. We added South Carolina and Nevada specifically for that purpose, that all four regions of the country would be heard," he said. "A significant Latino community exists in Nevada and in South Carolina. In fact, the majority of people who participate in the Democratic primary are African-American."

Nevada's caucus will be held on Feb. 22 and the South Carolina primary will be on Feb. 29.
