With less than three weeks until voting in the Democratic primaries begins, the New York Times endorsed Senators Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren as the Democrats best choices to defeat President Donald Trump. Recent polling, however, shows former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders leading the pack by a small margin.
On Monday, John Nucci and Jennifer Horn joined Boston Public Radio for their weekly politics round table and to discuss the state of the Democratic race.
“What I’ve learned in the final stages...it’s more about organization [and] it’s more about troops, it’s more about how you have set up over the last year. It’s not so much about retail politics and shaking hands.,” Nucci said.
Horn, who was the former chair of the New Hampshire Republican Party and the co-founder of a political action committee dedicated to defeating Trump, said she believes that even though the New Hampshire primary is less than a month away the race is still wide open.
“The other piece of this to consider is that there are a significant number of people who are undecided and it is possible for people to change their mind,” Horn said. “We have three weeks. That is a significant amount of time, especially if somebody is able to really get out there and create a presence that maybe people haven’t felt before.”
Nucci is Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Suffolk University and a former Boston City Councilor At-Large. Horn is the former chair of the New Hampshire Republican Party and a co-founder of The Lincoln Project.
