Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that the House will vote on Wednesday to send articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate, setting the stage for his trial in Congress’ upper chamber. Though the trial will focus on Trump, it will also have a deep impact on several of his potential opponents in the 2020 presidential race.
John King, CNN’s Chief National Political Correspondent, told Boston Public Radio Tuesday that while it will be a detriment for the senators the only thing they can do is take advantage of paid and earned media and devoting as much time to campaigning as the trial will allow.
“They’re going to have to do the best they can,” King said during an interview with Boston Public Radio on Tuesday. “I do think surrogates will matter. I do think being smart technologically will matter. I envision that when the proceedings are over on Saturday they will all be running to planes.”
