As the impeachment investigation into President Donald Trump continues, it was revealed Monday that Attorney General William Barr had held private meetings with foreign governments to seek their help in a Department of Justice inquiry to discredit the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusions about the 2016 election. Meanwhile, Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, was subpoenaed by House committees seeking documents about his involvement in Ukraine on the president’s behalf. Also, it was reported Monday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was on Trump’s July phone call with the Ukrainian president, despite feigning ignorance about the issue during media appearances last week.
To discuss all these developments, Jim Braude was joined by Heather Cox Richardson, a political historian at Boston College, and Glen Johnson, a former reporter with The Boston Globe and former senior advisor to Secretary of State John Kerry.
