Despite Massachusetts’ reputation of being a progressive bastion, a recent poll conducted by Lou DiNatale and Evan Falchuk found that Democratic voters in the Bay State may not lean as far left as some think. In their poll of 443 likely Massachusetts voters, the pair found that while progressive Democrats were significant part of the state’s Democratic electorate, they only made up 22 percent of the population. Rather, the other 78 percent of the electorate, which the two dubbed the “Big Middle,” tend to be less likely to support issues like Medicare for All, the Green New Deal and reparations for slavery.
