Massachusetts Rep. Joseph Kennedy III spoke with Boston Public Radio on Thursday about his vote to impeach President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
"It was a brutal day. Nobody runs for office to impeach a president," Kennedy said. "This is a culmination of a series of actions taken by the president and a series of choices made by some of our Republican colleagues in Congress not to hold him accountable that forced this hand."
Kennedy said that it was difficult to watch many of his colleagues stand by Trump, when it was clear to him that Trump violated the Constitution.

"It is still a brutal day, personally, when you watch colleagues and friends of yours say things that are hurtful to our country and you have a president of the United States who just continues to not only admit no wrong," Kennedy said, "but flaunt the fact that he is above the law."
