Sen. Elizabeth Warren is now the Democratic front runner for 2020, and critics have already amped up their attacks on her.
While many have criticized Warren's policies, some recently turned to salacious rumors to try to take down the candidate. Last week, one rumor began to spread that Warren had an affair with a 24-year-old Marine.
In response to the rumor, Warren tweeted: "It's always a good day to be reminded that I got where I am because a great education was available for $50 a semester at the University of Houston (go Cougars!)."
“She has made these people look like morons,” Washington Post Politics Reporter Annie Linskey told Boston Public Radio Thursday about Warren’s response to the rumor.
Linskey said that Warren is already showing her ability to defend herself from the onslaught of political attacks she has received since she became the front runner.
“She has shown in the last week a sort of dexterity and ability to deal with this incoming, and a skill level that we really haven’t seen before,” Linskey said.
