In the wake of allegations that President Donald Trump coordinated with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky to gain political dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden, it’s still unclear how Congressional Democrats will respond.
Former CEO of the DNC, Steve Kerrigan, and former New Hampshire GOP Chair Jennifer Horn joined Boston Public Radio to discuss the fallout from last week’s revelations.
“This president, after campaigning against crazy conspiracy accusations along these same lines when he became president, now turns around and asks a foreign nation to tip the scales in favor of him, and in an American presidential election. That is outrageous,” Horn said.
Kerrigan agreed. “This is egregious at its best and criminal at its worst,” he said. “I think unless and until they release the transcript of that call, Congress has no choice but to, frankly, march down the line of obstruction of justice.”
On Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi released a statement presenting White House officials with a Thursday deadline to release whistle-blower documents, before entering what she called “a new chapter of lawlessness which will take us into a whole new stage of investigation.”
