Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has come under fire this week for calling U.S. migrant detentions concentration camps on Twitter.
Chuck Todd, the moderator of Meet The Press, host of Meet the Press Daily on MSNBC, and the political director for NBC News, criticized Ocasio-Cortez's tweets on his show, and told Boston Public Radio Thursday that calling the detention centers concentration camps "was the wrong word choice."
"That word choice is a distraction from what we all ought to be focusing on. If your goal was to bring attention to what’s happening down there, that’s the wrong way to do it," he said.
Todd said Ocasio-Cortez's tweets highlight a larger problem with politicians and their use of social media.
"You have to come up with more shocking ways to say things, to make claims, go over the top," Todd said.
