Like many of Hillary Clinton's supporters, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh watched his preferred candidate square off against Republican nominee Donald Trump Monday in the first debate of the presidential general election cycle. And for the record, no, he wasn't a fan of The Donald's performance.

"He pretty much dodged every single question that was asked," Walsh told WGBH News Tuesday. "It took Lester Holt a lot to get some type of answers out of him."

Walsh also suspects that Trump's tax returns, which he has refused to release, may hold damaging details about the billionaire's wealth. The mayor said Trump "made a mockery" of Clinton's suggestions that he was withholding information in his tax records.

"You would assume that if that weren't true, he'd say 'that's not true'. That's the one thing he didn't do [during the debate]," Walsh said, adding that Trump did not stop from saying when he thought Clinton's other points or accusations were untrue.

"When that point came up he was silent," Walsh said. "His silence said a great deal."
