The plan for this week’s Scrum was to look at all the weird ways the presidential election intersected with New England this week, from Elizabeth Warren’s so-called “snub” of Hillary Clinton to New Hampshire Union Leader publisher ( and onetime Scrum guest) endorsing Chris Christie.
But then, Wednesday afternoon, a married couple opened fire on a holiday party in San Bernardino, California. At least 14 people were killed before the couple was shot and killed by police. Another day, another mass shooting in America.
So reporter Adam Reilly, WGBH analyst David Bernstein, and WGBHNews.org Senior Editor Peter Kadzis sat down to discuss—once more—how policymakers struggle, again and again, to address mass shootings in the United States. Then, they turn their attention to the presidential race's pit stop in New England.
