Gabriel Gomez supporters and campaign staff are filling a very large ballroom in the Seaport Hotel in South Boston.
They say they’re happy with the turnout they’ve seen in suburban areas, which is where Gomez needs to do well.
Supporters continue to point to the success of fellow moderate Republican Scott Brown in 2010, but they admit that Gomez is the underdog. Recent polls have put him at least eight points behind Markey.
That’s why he’s made a major push in the last 48 hours. He welcomed the support of Scott Brown at a rally Monday night, traveling exhaustively and stopping in 17 places. He went from restaurants to train stations, from Cape Cod to Worcester, thanking supporters and greeting voters. He’s expected to arrive at the Seaport later tonight.
