U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch (D - South Boston) plans to announce a run for U.S. Sen. John Kerry's Senate seat next week, according to a report in The Boston Globe .
The Globe is reporting that Lynch plans to announce next week after Kerry has been confirmed as U.S. Secretary of State.
Lynch would challenge U.S. Rep. Ed Markey (D - Malden) who has wrapped up the endorsements of Kerry and Vicki Kennedy.
Former Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is widely expected to run, but has yet to declare his intentions.
