Under the Radar and Basic Black host Callie Crossley joined Boston Public Radio on Thursday to reflect on the recent news that supermarket Trader Joe's won’t be re-branding their ethnic food lines after a petition for the company to remove names like “Trader José’s,” and “Trader Ming’s” from their packaging went viral. The announcement was a reversal, coming two weeks after a spokesperson told NPR that they would make the changes in response to the petition.

“There’s a power dynamic in making jokes about other people,” Crossley said, calling the company's decision “tone deaf, at this moment.”

"It’s a problem for me, because I’ve been boycotting Whole Foods,” she said, joking that she'll now have to boycott Trader Joe's, too.
