Chuck Todd, host of "Meet the Press Daily" on MSNBC, spoke with Boston Public Radio on Thursday about what he said is a growing divide between President Donald Trump's storyline and reality.
"As he dives deeper into his own rabbit hole of reality that doesn't exist for the rest of the world, his shrinking base — and it is shrinking — is more devoted to his storyline than ever before," he said. "But the gulf between reality and Trump's reality is growing ever greater."
When some Republican senators try to nod towards reality, Trump's base lashes out, Todd noted.
"Trump has successfully created this alternative reality that a big chunk of the Republican party believes, but not enough for him to politically succeed," he said, "if anything, just enough to create a political disaster for the Republican party."
