Sports reporter Trenni Kusnierek joined Boston Public Radio on Tuesday to speak about how people are coping without live sports. The ratings for this year's NFL draft hit high viewership last week, for a record 19.6 million viewers.
"It got huge ratings, it shattered records for the NFL draft," Kusnierek said. "I'll be honest — I hate the NFL draft, I almost never watch it in a normal year, but I found myself watching all of the first round, and a pretty big chunk of the second into the third round, because it was something sports related, it was something live."
The sports documentary miniseries, "The Last Dance" about Michael Jordan's last season with the Chicago Bulls, is also getting record viewership numbers, Kusnierek added. 6.1 million viewers watched the premiere of the series on ESPN and ESPN2 last week.
"'The Last Dance' is also getting huge ratings, and again it's not even live sports television, but I think people really are desperate for something sports related."
