Chuck Todd, host of "Meet the Press Daily" on MSNBC, spoke with Boston Public Radio on Thursday about what Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, should be doing right now.

"I think he's doing exactly what he should be doing, which is: Don't get in the way, put your campaign together, get the party unified, start figuring out what a general election is going to look like," Todd said. "The fact of the matter is the public is not going to tune into this election until their life has more certainty."

Other people are pushing Biden to be more active in this moment, but Todd disagrees.

"No one's paying attention, we're in the middle of a pandemic," he said. "I think [Biden's] strength is he's this guy who's sitting on the bench, that you feel like isn't going to lose the game for you, so don't ruin that perception that the public already has for you."
