Medical ethicist Art Caplan spoke with Boston Public Radio on Wednesday about safety precautions to take regarding food services in the time of social distancing.
"It's very ethical to use takeout and delivery if they're there," he said. "We've got to try to support the restaurant business, just be safe."
Caplan listed ways that delivery services can maximize safety precautions, to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
"There's a little bit of protocol about how to do this: Lets not use paper money, if you can use a credit or debit card, since there's no reason to exchange grimy, perhaps virus-laden currency," he said. "And let's have delivery people leave the food outside your door."
