On Thursday, NBC “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd joined Boston Public Radio to discuss recent statements made by former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

Speaking to students and guests at Drew University on Wednesday, the U.S. Marine Corps general defended former National Security Council aide Alexander Vindman, who testified as an impeachment witness and was fired from his post last week.

“He did exactly what we teach them to do from cradle to grave," Kelly said. "He went and told his boss what he just heard."

In reference to worries that Kelly’s statements will have little impact on Trump supporters and the GOP, Todd said "I believe we are in a crisis mode– and what’s scary about it is half the country thinks I’m insane because I say that.”

"He has so conditioned his people,” he continued, "and so conditioned this propaganda machine that sits on cable every night… this is why we’re in the situation we’re in.”
