The basketball world and beyond lost one of its most recognizable faces in the passing of Kobe Bryant over the weekend, who died in a helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of his teenage daughter and seven other people.
NBC Sports Boston reporter and anchor Trenni Kusnierek joined Boston Public Radio on Monday to discuss Bryant's legacy.
"He wasn't just a basketball star, he was a cultural icon," she said. "He might not have had the most raw talent, but he was known for his work ethic, never giving up, for being highly competitive."
Bryant played his entire career with the Los Angeles Lakers and was a five-time NBA champion.
Kusnierek also discussed Bryant's complicated past, including his sexual assault allegations
