Political commentator Sue O'Connell joined Boston Public Radio on Thursday to speak about the LGBTQ community's opinion on presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, who would be the country's first openly gay president if elected.
"As a gay, I'm 100 percent in for Pete Buttigieg, as a gay, as a member of the LGBTQ community, I want him to do as well as he possibly can," she said. "But as a voter, I'm lukewarm."
O'Connell co-publishes "Bay Windows," an LGBTQ-oriented newspaper, which has not yet endorsed a presidential candidate. She explained that she remains unsure what readers' reactions would be if the magazine does not endorse Buttigieg.
"At a national level we're talking with other LGBTQ newspapers across the country about if we're going to do a group endorsement," she said.
O'Connell is NECN's political commentator and explainer-in-chief, as well as a co-publisher of Bay Windows and the South End News.
