Flour Bakery founder and pastry chef Joanne Chang joined Boston Public Radio on Monday to discuss her latest book "Pastry Love: A Baker's Journal of Favorite Recipes."
"Pastry love, which is the name of the book, is also a term at the bakery we use all of the time," Chang said. "It refers to looking at the pastry counter and fluffing it up and making it look beautiful, so that when the guest walks in they see the bounty of all the pastries."
Chang said she is not worried about giving away her pastry secrets in the form of another cookbook.
“If I can share the recipes and you all can make these things at home and enjoy them, then to me that’s wonderful," she said. "It is spreading what I lov which is making great things/"
She added that most recipes in the book can be prepared easily by anyone with only a few recipes requiring a bit more patience.
“You really need to have the desire to make these things and if you have that desire it’ll give you the patience to stick through with the recipe."
Chang is co-owner of Myers + Chang, co-owner of Flour Bakery, and James Beard Foundation Award winner for Outstanding Baker, 2016.
