Following Tuesday's testimony from Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, advocates of President Trump were, for the most part, unified in their skepticism of the U.S. National Security Council member’s remarks.
CNN’s Juliette Kayyem stopped by the Boston Public Radio studios Wednesday to make a case for Vindman, and everyone who’s thus far criticized Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.
"Everyone now is corroborating each other, so I think we can accept that the basic facts occurred … Donald Trump essentially had a quid pro quo with Ukraine,” Kayyem said. “All of them are detailed, specific and credible witnesses about this quid pro quo, and that’s essentially the storyline now.”
Kayyem also touched on Tuesday’s news that President Trump omitted several key phrases from his July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"The disconnect between the transcript and what every single witness is now saying is just too great of a gap," Kayyem said. "Something’s wrong here. If you’re a Republican defending the president, you’re going to say they’re all anti-Trumpers, or never-Trumpers, and there’s a conspiracy against you. ... Or you could be a rational human being and look at the totality of the circumstances."
