Callie Crossley joined Boston Public Radio on Friday to discuss a park in Richmond, Virginia featuring a statue of confederate soldier Robert E. Lee, which has become a community space since George Floyd's death. Every night, lighting artist Dustin Klein projects the images of prominent Black figures including George Floyd, Harriet Tubman and — most recently — John Lewis, onto the statue's base.
"It's really become a gathering space. I thought wow, what a way to reinvent in the moment," she said. "Don't wait for the statue to come down, do something right now."
