As President Trump said Wednesday that his coronavirus task force would shift focus to reopening the American economy, public health experts testified on Capitol Hill that the United States is still deep in the midst of the pandemic, with former CDC director Tom Frieden estimating the U.S. will reach 100,000 deaths from COVID-19 by the end of May.

Boston’s Mother’s Day Walk For Peace Goes Virtual In Light Of Coronavirus Pandemic
Despite the state's stay-at-home advisory — the Boston area has seen an increase in shootings in recent weeks, including the shooting death of 17-year-old Alyssa King and the injuring of a 10-year old girl by a stray bullet. These kinds of tragic incidents are what motivate thousands of people to march each year in the Mother's Day Walk for Peace. Local activist Tina Chéry started the event 24 years ago after founding the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, named after her son who was shot and killed in 1993.
This year the event will happen virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. Tina Chéry spoke with Jim Braude Wednesday.
