The impeachment trial in the Senate moved into a second phase Wednesday as lawmakers began asking questions of the White House counsel and House managers — but the main question of whether the deliberative body would call witnesses remained unanswered.

That sticking point has gained particular importance in the wake of a manuscript from former national security adviser John Bolton that claimed President Donald Trump did indeed condition aid to Ukraine on that country announcing investigations into the Bidens.

Don Stern, former U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts; and Bruce Singal, former Assistant U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, joined Greater Boston host Jim Braude Wednesday to talk impeachment.
