It has been 25 years since the O.J. Simpson trial, and it still has a hold on the public consciousness.
Callie Crossley, host of WGBH’s Under The Radar, joined Boston Public Radio Friday to talk about the trial's cultural significance and Simpson's life after the trial.
"It doesn't seem possible that it has been 25 years," Crossley said.
Crossley believes that we are still unpacking the impact the trial had on media, race, and society as a whole.
"The expansive response is quite something to think about, but I think it has taken a few years for us to really understand the depth of it," she said.
Though Simpson did eventually end up serving jail time for a civil charge, he is out of jail now, living in Las Vegas. Crossley said it is unfortunate that he is able to live a normal life while his victims, Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, cannot.
"He's living in Las Vegas, playing golf like some other person who might be retired. It's weird," Crossley said.
