In response to the release of the redacted Mueller report, Rep. Ayanna Pressley has renewed her call to impeach President Donald Trump.
“There's a lack of moral fortitude and fitness to even be in this office,” Pressley said during an interview with Boston Public Radio Friday. “I think what we have seen that is unredacted in this report relative to examples of obstruction of justice also gives us the legal grounds.”
Pressley joined fellow representatives Ihan Omar (D-MN) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in signing an impeachment resolution introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).
“That resolution will come before a vote before the Congress and it asks that, dependent on that vote, that we follow up procedurally in committee,” Pressley said. “I mean here's the thing — I have felt for a long time that this administration has lost all moral authority and there are many impeachable offenses.”
According to Pressley, the 400 page report, released Thursday, gives congress legal grounds to move an impeachment resolution forward.
"These redactions, I find them insulting and problematic," Pressley said. "I support the efforts by Chairman Nadler of the Judiciary Committee to subpoena a full unredacted report with all underlying documents and requests to have Mueller testify before Congress to share his findings himself."
Pressley said the unredacted portions of the report also give her pause. "What is not redacted and honestly what we have seen in plain view from Donald Trump and this administration already gives us great agita and pause, so imagine what is happening not in the light of day," she said. "And that's why sunlight is the best disinfectant."
