Searching for an at-home coronavirus test at a local pharmacy can feel impossible, but a new website created by a Massachusetts woman helps track down the vital test kits by keeping updated, crowdsourced information on where they're in stock. Website creator Olivia Adams joined Jim Braude on Greater Boston to discuss.
Adams, a web developer from Arlington, created covidtestcollab.com, which is helping residents find at-home tests quickly and easily.
"What this website does is it allows you to put in the information you know about the pharmacies and the retailers near you so that other people can benefit from that information. So instead of calling around to all the Walgreens near you or driving around three different towns trying to find the tests, you can look online and see where people have said there's availability," said Adams.
The website is Adams' second coronavirus-related project following the creation of macovidvaccines.com, which reported on open coronavirus vaccine appointments across the state in the early days of distribution when supply was limited. The site exploded in popularity and got 50 million hits, according to Adams.
"That really just made me realize how much of an impact one person can have if they put their mind to it and they share what they've done with the community," Adams said.
